How to send your Sharkware sharkware.gif (1646 bytes)
database for conversion odbc.jpg (1207 bytes)

There are 3 basic steps:

1. FIND THE DATABASE FILE (for versions 3 and 4 - Click here for Versions 1 or 2)
You can find the SHARK.DB file in the C:\SHARK\DATA folder
You can use the Windows Search feature to help you find it (click for tips)

You can also make a Backup, and send that.
The backup file will be in the C:\SHARK\DATA\BACKUP folder
and have a file name, such as SW123456.001

2. SEND THE FILE via a secure web browser service

Go to https://WeTransfer.com
Select the file such as "MyDatabase.zip"
Send to Convert@CICorp.com
Enter your email address at your company
Message is optional, such as a password if necessary
click Transfer

Remember to let us know the password if necessary to open the files.
We will then perform the conversion.

3. DOWNLOAD the FINISHED DATABASE FILE
When done, you can download the converted file in the format of your choice.

How much will it cost?

In SharkWare, select Search, Count Contacts...
Select OK at the Select Contacts to Count screen.
Select OK that All contacts will be included in the result.
Then use the number of Contacts to look up the cost on our Standard Chart.
If you have an unusually large number of User Defined Fields, Groups, or Notes, please contact us.

How to determine the number of records?

DETAILS

1. SENDING THE SHARKWARE FILES

Find the Shark folder.
It may be under C:\Program Files
You can tell if this is the right folder if it contains such files as:
SharkWare .EXE, .DLL, and .INI files.

Next find the Shark\Data folder.
Next find the SHARK.DB file

1. Make sure everyone is out of SharkWare
2. Select the SharkWare folder with a single left click
3. Right click, then select Add to Zip
4. For the file name, enter SharkWare.ZIP

Everyone should be out of SharkWare for this to work because if a file is open by someone on your network, it will not compress some files, and we will not have all the data to convert.

To make sure you have the right database, go in and make a simple change, such as changing "St." to "Street" in an address.  Then exit the software and check the date and time stamp.  If it is within the last minute you have the right data file.   More Tips

We can take care of the data files. If you need assistance on the other files, such as word processing templates, which may have to be converted separately by your staff, please feel free to call.

In SharkWare 3 and 4, the data is in One file, SHARK.DB but in previous versions the database consists of Many files.

We do NOT need the SharkWare software files, such as Shark.EXE, or any DLLs.

Or, you can create a compressed "Zip" file on your own.  Please do not send the \SharkWare\ATTACH folder, as this may have hundreds of Word processing, Excel spreadsheet, and PowerPoint files.   These do not need to be converted.

The attachments can make the Zip file quite large, such as 200MB, when the necessary data would fit in 2 MB.  This makes it take longer to send your files to us.

Sizes:
3066 records, 9,342,976 bytes, Zip 2,926,000
