Shut off the power to your internet router during the night, even for 1/2 hour.  This disrupts the use of your computer by hackers that need constant connectivity for uploading large files, such as games and movies.  Hackers share the information about which computers are always available.  They don't want computers that will shut off during a large upload.   There is no way hackers can get in to your system if the power is off to the router.  See all time zones.
