Q. Can I house a backup of my salesforce.com data at my own company?
A. You can receive a complete download of all your company data on salesforce.com by signing up for our Weekly Export Service.Please contact your salesforce.com account manager for more information.
Then, there are 3 basic steps:
1. EXPORT THE DATA INTO CSV FILES
Select Administrative Setup, Data Management, Data Export

Select a Date Range that is earlier than your first entry

2. COMPRESSING YOUR DATABASE FILES
Compress the files for faster upload, using WinZip.
You will need to order the Comma Separated Value (CSV)
files from SalesForce.com, about a $50 charge.
Then compress these files in to a Zip file.
3. SEND THE FILE TO OUR SECURE SERVER
Small (1-1000 records): Email your ZIP file to Convert@Cicorp.com
Medium (1000-10000): Upload it to our Secure Server via a web browser
Large (over 10000): Upload it using
FTP (call for instructions and password)
Remember to let us know the password if necessary to open the files.
We will then perform the conversion.
4. DOWNLOAD the FINISHED ACT FILE
When done, you can see your data in SalesForce.com
Use the Admin record to check the conversion
Let us know when you are satisfied with the results so we can delete
your files.
