Microcomputers have made a significant impact on our society.  One aspect of microcomputers that is still being perfected has the ability to increase it's greater potential.  While computers can handle numbers, people are mare visual and therefore can handle pictures much easier.  Energraphics was developed to turn those numbers into pictures.  But Energraphics does much more than that.

* You can customize any chart or graphic created in the EnerGraphics program by adding special fonts, logos, typing, text drawing lines, etc.

 

STARTING THE ENERGRAPHICS SYSTEM

Put EnerGraphics Systems Disk # 1 in drive B: and a data disk in drive B: Then you could either: - Turn on computer or - Reset computer (Ctrl + Alt + Del)

  

Note: The menu selection process involves choosing the command with the appropriate Function Key (1-10 on left of keyboard) and then pressing the Return Key.

CREATING CHARTƒS PIE CHARTS From the Main Menu choose the F1 Charts key (and press Return, will no longer indicate this step). From sub menu choose F1 Pie charts From Pie Menu choose F1 Create Pie chart Answer following prompts:

BAR CHARTS

Get into Bar Chart menu and choose F1 Create Bar Chart Single or Multiple scales (S or M) Type M ( Press ENTER) Title will be BAR CHART (ENTER) Vertical Axis Label: UNITS SOLD (ENTER) Horizontal Axis Label: MONTHS (ENTER) THEN FOR THE FOLLOWING PROMPTS: Minimum Scale Value: (ENTER) Maximum Scale Value: 100 (ENTER) Scale Step Value: 10 (ENTER) NEXT SCREEN: Subtitle: PRODUCT 1 Now press ENTER twice to use the default for bar locations. For bar patterns type 1 (ENTER) For bar colors type 1 (ENTER)

NOW ENTER THE BAR VALUES:

Press the Ctrl + End keys

 

- It will now ask you if you want to create another graph. Press any key and we can start are second graph Since we are using multiple scales the program will return to the scale information for graph two. NEXT SCREEN: Minimum Scale Value: (ENTER) for 0 value default Maximum Scale Value: 20 (ENTER) Scale Step Value: 2 (ENTER) NEXT SCREEN: Subtitle: PRODUCT 2 Press (ENTER) twice for location default Bar Pattern: 2 (ENTER) Bar Color: 2 (ENTER) The data prompts will appear, for these enter:

NOW from the bar menu choose F2 Draw Bar chart Use the current Parameters by just pressing (ENTER) Press any key to return to the bar menu  DATA CAN BE TRANSFERED FROM A SPREADSHEET ENVIRONMENT AND BY GRAPHEDWITH ENERGRAPHICS. A sample of this is the file SPREAD LINE AND 3D SURFACE CHARTS CAN BE CREATED USING FUNCTIONS A samples of each of these uses the function named SINTEST which is SIN(X)*EXP(-.1*X) and a function called SINCOS which is #SIN(X*9)#COS(Y*9) These were created in the Function Creation option from the Support Sub Menu To plot the line chart using the function do the following: From the Line Menu choose F1 Create Line Chart (ENTER)

Choose S for Single Scales (S or M) (ENTER)

Title: LINE CHART (ENTER)

Vertical Axis Label: VERTICAL (ENTER)

Horizontal Axis Label: HORIZONTAL (ENTER)

NEXT SCREEN:

Minimum X Scale Value: 0 (ENTER)

Maximum X Scale Value: 35 (ENTER)

X Scale Step Value: 5 (ENTER)

NEXT SCREEN:

Minimum Y Scale Value: -1 (ENTER)

Maximum Y Scale Value: +1 (ENTER)

Y Scale Step Value: .2 (ENTER)

 

NEXT SCREEN:

Subtitle: SINTEST (ENTER)

Press (ENTER) twice to use the default subtitle location

Point Symbol: 1 (ENTER)

Choose F for the use of a Function

SINTEST is the name of the function (ENTER)

Type 100 (ENTER)

 

Press any key to create another line

Subtitle: LINE 2

Press (ENTER) twice to use default subtitle location

Point Symbol: 3 (ENTER)

Use Data directly this time so just Press (ENTER) for D Default

NEXT SCREEN:

Press (ENTER) to use N default because we won't be using the same Xvalues

NOW input data and press (ENTER) after typing each number

Press the F2 Draw Line Chart (ENTER)

Type N to change parameters (ENTER)

Using the ENTER key move the cursor to the line connection type for line #1

Type 2 (ENTER)

Type 2 (ENTER)

USE CURRENT PARAMETERS? (Y or N) Y press (ENTER)

The chart will be drawn.

 

*** TO DO A SURFACE CHART FROM A FUNCTION ***

Start with the 3D Surface Menu and choose F1 Create Surface Chart

Use the Function option (F or D) F (ENTER)

The function file name will be SINCOS (ENTER)

NEXT SCREEN

Title: SINCOS (ENTER)

X-Axis: X-AXIS (ENTER)

Y-Axis: Y-AXIS (ENTER)

Z-Axis: Z-AXIS (ENTER)

NEXT SCREEN

The domain prompts are as follows:

Minimum X-Axis Values: *

*Press (ENTER) four times to the default for these prompts

NEXT SCREEN

Number of points in the X direction: 50 (ENTER)

Number of points in the Y direction: 50 (ENTER)

** The program will now calculate the data points using the math function. After this is finished the 3D Surface Menu will come back.

NOW let's draw the surface

Press F2 Draw Surface Chart (ENTER)

Type N (Y or N) to change the parameters (ENTER)

Press (ENTER) twice to use default for screen location values

For Scale Factors type 4 (ENTER) 4 (ENTER) 1 (ENTER)

For Table Angle use default by just pressing (ENTER)

For View Angle choose 25 (ENTER)

NOW press Ctrl + End

Use current parameters?  Press (ENTER) to us Y (Y or N) default.

The 3D surface will be drawn

 

2D GRAPHICS

Text Graphics

Note: Each time you go to a new feature within the 2D framework the Function Keys change functions.  Each time this changes a new set of function key definitions will be listed in this manual.  To get back to the previous function mode you must press the Ctrl + End keys.

Choosing 2D Graphics form the main menu will give you a prompt request Systems Disk # 2.  Replace the Systems Disk # 1 in drive A: with the # 2 Systems Disk.

First we want to Read Templates F1 (ENTER)

Type 5 (ENTER) to choose the Template # 5

Now let's Begin Editing F4 (ENTER)

Function Keys:

F10 Help

F9 Adjust cursor speed

F8 Switch template (if more than one has been chosen)

F7 Redraw

F6 On/Off grid

F5 On/Off reference points

F4 Zoom in

F3 Zoom out

F2 Catch text/symbol

F1 To draw mode

 

From here we can use the Alt + Letter keys to create text.

Write 'MicroSystem' starting near upper right corner of screen

After typing a letter you must move the cursor to the next position with the arrow keys (don't forget to adjust the speed of the cursorF9)

NOW let's choose to use text

Press F1 for Draw mode

Function Keys are now:

F10 Help

F9 Speed

F8 - F2 No Function

F1 Drw arc

NOW by typing any letter (by itself) will put you in to Text mode

Type 'International' below the previous text 'MicroSystemz'

Function Keys:

F10 Help

F9 - F3 No Function

F2 Adjust

F1 Line

 

After typing 'International' let's get into Adjust mode F2

Function Keys:

F10 Help

F9 Speed

F8 Change font

F7 No Function

F6 Rotate clockwise

F5 Rotate counter clockwise

F4 Increase text size

F3 Decrease text size

F2 No function

F1 No function

So let's Increase size F4

Now let's change font F8, press F8 again, and again

To exit press Ctrl + End
