About the term "Customer Information Management"
Since we are offering sales automation and customer support
software that are integrated, we will have a so-called "integrated Customer
Information Management" (CIM) solution. CIM is a new buzz-word that most of our
prospects and customers probably haven't heard yet, but the concept is easily
understandable common application to manage interaction with customers across the
company.
Different vendors and industry analysts have coined their own
acronyms and buzzwords, but we are not going to use these: TERM - Technology Enabled
Relationship Management (Yankee Group), TES - Technology Enabled Selling (Gartner Group),
CAM- Customer Asset Management (Aurum and ONYX), CIS - Customer Interaction Software
(Aberdeen).
We have chosen for now to use the most generic and
easily-understood of these Customer Information Management (CIM). CIM (pronounced
"SIM") is not generally used in conversation, so don't expect anyone to know
what you're talking about if you tell them, "oh yeah, we've got a great CIM
application." |
