How can I post the number of words in my WordPro document within the header or footer?

You can quickly determine how many words are in a Word Pro document at any given time--all you have to do is choose Edit, Word Count. But what if you'd like to insert the word count into your document? In that case, you can use Word Pro's Power Field feature to embed the Word count directly into the footer. This is accomplished as follows. Save your document and then click the footer. Now, choose Text, Insert Other, Power/Doc. Field. When the Document Fields dialog box opens, select the radio button labeled Power Field. Now look through the Field Name list and locate NumWords. Select it and then click Insert. The current word count appears in the footer. You can add the word "Words" after the field if you need to make it clear to others what the field is reporting. After making further changes to the document, you can quickly update your word count by right-clicking the field and choosing Update Field.

I am using Lotus Word Pro. When I create a brochure or a document I often use the Drop Cap feature. Are there any techniques that I can use to make my business documents look better?

One tip is to use different fonts when you create the Drop Caps. For example, if your sentence is formatted in Arial use Courier for the drop cap. Then for the next Drop Cap, use Arial with Courier as your main font. Make sure not to use the same font for the drop cap and the rest of the sentence. If the sentence is Courier, use Arial for the Drop Cap.

This is done by selecting the first character of the sentence and, then from the Create menu, choose Drop Cap. In the Drop Cap dialog box, click OK to accept the default and close the dialog box. Now select the letter again, choose Text, Font & Color, when the dialog box opens, select a different font for your drop cap.
