The Boy Scouts have a Computer Merit Badge, which is very helpful to those whose eventual careers will increasingly involve computers. When I was a Scout, there was no such badge yet. But it is a pleasure to offer assistance as a Merit Badge Counselor to develop general computer skills.
The merit badges change with the times. The current Computer Merit Requirements are behind the times, mentioning outdated services such as Bulletin Boards, Prodigy, and CompuServe. With the importance of computers nowadays, the CMB should be a required badge for Eagle.
Internet and web site design skills are a particular aspect of computers, and one of the fastest growing. It deserves its own merit badge.
Here below are the proposed requirements for the "Internet Merit Badge". It might be called the "Web Site Merit Badge."
Also, with the simple addition of an "A" record in the DNS, people will be able to get to the official web site with either the "www" or without, http://www.Scouting.org or simply http://Scouting.org (which now gives an error) - just a suggestion.
Please feel free to call me with any questions.
