subject: Migrate GM 6 to ACT2005: Errors in
MigrateAdmin |
|
|
Hi,
We have been
running Goldmine 6 for a while now and have decided to move to
ACT.
I just purchased and installed a brand new
version of ACT. Set up a new database and downloaded/installed
MigrateAdmin.
Got everything running fine.
I
then started the program from within ACT and answered a couple
of questions regarding where Goldmine is and the user/pwd.
The next screen prompted me for Contacts/Company
Records/Group Records. I selected Contacts and Company Records
and then checked all the boxes hoping to bring in any data in
any of those fields. And that is where things broke down.
I tried multiple queries including simply select
Contacts and Notes, but I get errors like "Object reference
not set to an instance of an object" or "Query is too
complex".
So far, this has been quite a
disappointment. Hasn't even gotten to the point of attempting
a migration.
Any suggestions on what is the cause/cure
for these errors?
thanks | |

Hello There,
I need
to find out a few versions. First, which version of ACT! 2005
are you presently using? You can check this in ACT! under HELP
> ABOUT. You must be using 7.0.3. Also, you must be using
the latest version of MigrateAdmin which is 1.5.0.2. Can you
verify which versions you are
using? _________________ _________________ Chris

Chris,
Thank you
for replying.
I am up to the current version on both
products.

Hello Nate,
We did
just update the software today to fix an installer problem. It
should resolve issues with errors on the data type screen etc.
I would recommend updating the MigrateAdmin with the installer
that is pasted below. You will need to Uninstall your version
first, then delete your other installer. Then download the
installer from the link below:

Chris
I downloaded
the new installer and started the program, but right at the
start it shows version 1.5.0.2.
That is the version I
had on the system previously. Did you not change the
version? | |

Perhaps I missed something.
I uninstalled the previous package. But did not
understand what you meant by delete the previous installer. I
just downloaded your new one and ran that. Should I do
anything else? | |

Chris,
I went ahead
and installed the download. Now I am having problems with the
registration keycode. It won't take the code that I had
before.
This is very frustrating!! New product and I
can't even get it to start the job. | |
